A Little Rain Won’t Dampen Our Fundraising Spirit

As morning dawned on April 26, twenty-five children awoke with anticipation of the exciting fundraiser event planned that day, but to their disappointment, the cold rain and clouds of Northern Mexico threatened to ruin their plans. Thinking quickly and undaunted by the elements, we decided to move the event indoors. Tecate Sheds graciously allowed us to use their shop, and all vendors began setting up their stands around 10:00 a.m. By 11:00 a.m., we were surrounded by vendors serving delicious foods and refreshing beverages. Some of these tasty specialties included mojitos, carnitas, quesadillas, chicharrones, elotes, grilled chicken, and shrimp ceviche.  With full stomachs and grateful hearts, we wrapped up the day with a fun, competitive game of indoor soccer.  Despite the unfavorable weather, neither our attitudes nor our fundraiser’s success were negatively affected. The earnings from this event will provide funding for the children to visit the nearby zoo in Valle de Guadalupe. This day served as a reminder that happiness is not dependent on the situation, but rather what we make of the situation.
